The Port of Los Angeles and partners launched the first phase of a long-term effort to scale a zero-emission goods movement system across California. The project had three key components, aligned with ongoing demonstrations at the Port to showcase a future zero-emission supply chain and provide a model for freight facility operations. Ten hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 trucks were developed by Kenworth and Toyota, while Shell built and operated two high-capacity hydrogen stations in Wilmington and Ontario to support fueling needs. The Port of Hueneme demonstrated two electric yard tractors and an e-crane, with partial funding from the local air district. Toyota Logistics Services also operated two battery-electric forklifts, completing the “Shore to Store” concept and demonstrating the potential for end-to-end zero-emission freight movement.
